What does it mean to be an Egyptian scribe? What materials did they use? Was it difficult? Who could be a scribe?
To be a scribe meant to write down everything, even the smallest details. Egyptians used a reed stem for the scribe pen. Then they hammered the reed until it was soft and fraying, then they would trim the tip to make it useful. For ink they used a type of gum mixed with red oxide, and for the normal black ink, they used a black gum mixed with soot. They used a paper like material called papyrus to write on. Yes, it was difficult to become a scribe, and to be a scribe. Scribes had to be very highly educated. Boys were sent to school at a young age to learn to become a scribe, and were considered middle class because it costed money to go to school. Only men were allowed to become a scribe at the time.
What advancements did ancient Egyptians make in medical technology?
Egyptians were very skilled at medical treatment. Such as mummification included the removal of internal organs. This could take very skilled workers, and careful work to not damaging the dead body. Ancient Egyptians had a few strange medicine, such as honey and human brains to cure eye infections, and a cooked mouse for coughs. A lot of these medicines had spells accompanying them to ward off evil spirits. Egyptians were the first to use splints, bandages, and compresses.
How was the Egyptian society organized?
The pharaoh and his family were the highest class. After that came a small upper class of priests, commanders, and nobles. A larger middle class followed. Scribes, artisans, and traders made up this class. The lowest class consisted of farmers, and unskilled workers who weren’t really good at anything. These social classes divided Egypt, but you would still be able to move up you social positions.
If you could be anyone in ancient Egypt, except the pharaoh, who would you choose to be?
I would choose to be an artisan because even though they were in the middle class they made beautiful art. There were many different types of artisans, such as sculptors, wig makers, carpenters, painters, potters, and much more. These all seem like very interesting jobs to me.

Since the Egyptians had so much sand and grit in their teeth they invented toothbrushes and toothpaste. To make their toothpaste they used strange ingredients such as ashes, eggshelss, and even ground up ox hoofs. Without this invention our teeth would have rotted more easily.

All Egyptians wore eye makeup, even the men. They made the makeup from soot and other minerals. The makeup was called kohl. This makeup was not only a fashion statement but also protected the Egyptians skins from the hot desert sun.Women mostly use this now. Many people find their intrests in makeup.

The Egyptians figured out how to make very durable parchment from the papyrus plant. They kept this finding to themselves so they could sell it to other civilizations. The paper that we use today couldn't have been made without this reference.
